White Rabbits

Take a trip with Neotropic - like Alice in Wonderland, step through the door into a world unlike any other! Take a bite from the cake and shrink to the size of a mouse, have conversations with the white rabbit, but this rabbit isn't in too much of a hurry - kick back and relax, sip green tea with the mad hatter's daughter, and her friends at the seaside.
Take a train to new cross and inch closer to the magpies, who fly you to the odity round-a-heights, perhaps you're feeling a little remote, but not for long with small moves, you'll get to meet joe luke - and like alice he wishes we were trees. And so your journey must end and it's time to slip back into the real world one last glance as you bid farewell to the white rabbit. He says "fear not this isn't the end only the begining."
White Rabbits is released on Mush Recordings on the 17th August 2004.

August Ends
so are we are looming ever closer to the new month of September, it always saddens me when Summer seems to be drawing to an end...
the evenings are shorter and dawn is a little later in her rising each day. So as I prepare myself of the dark evenings of Autumn which I do love as well with all that glorious colour of the changing leaves, I do feel a real sense of closure.
The last few weeks I have not been feeling to healthy and have had to lay low, but have been working on mixes for Candytheif and Ajah so hopefully these will bear good fruits in the coming months!
Next week I am heading off to the West Country to do a show at the Aeon Festival, looking forward to getting out of London and tasting some good clean country air.
As promised another picture from the vaults, and this feels kind of appropriate as I was at the opening of the new exhibition and book launch 20th Anniversary of Ninja Tune. A great night and was just wonderful to see so many friends of my time at Ninja, even living in this sprawling metropolis you never get the time to catch up with folk, so it is nice when an event like this brings us all together.

Biography

Riz Maslen has been part of the electronic scene since 1996 and is one of the few female producers around to have gained much acclaim for her work. Riz started her career fronting many indie bands whilst growing up in the West Country. She moved to London during the acid house / rave scene, eventually meeting and working with ambient kings The Future Sound of London. She featured on many of their albums and sang on Top of the Pops with their top 10 hit 'Papua New Guinea'.
She signed to Ninja Tunes' sister label Ntone in 1996 and released 3 critically acclaimed albums. '15 levels of Magnification', 'Mr Brubakers Strawberry Alarm Clock' and 'La Prochaine Fois'.
During her career she has toured to the USA, Australia and Europe. In the UK she has DJ'ed and played solo, more recently seen with a full band - each of her shows have their own slant to say. Not only does Riz write, play and DJ, she also produces photographic slides and film as part of her live set-up, creating a cinematic experience.
